2015 edition CEHRT: What You Need to Know
In the context of your readiness for 2019 quality reporting programs and the need to use 2015 Edition Certified Electronic Health Record Technology (CEHRT), we want to bring to your attention that you may need to update your interface(s).
For your reference, below is the complete 2015 CEHRT solution set including the solution we’re focusing on in this letter, interfaces.
- Centricity™ EMR 9.12 or Centricity Practice Solution 12.3
- Centricity Integration with Azure, our Azure Active Directory (AAD) solution
- CCDA 2.1
- Patient Portal and Secure Messaging
- Centricity Patient API
- ePrescribing 4.2.2 or higher
- ✓ Other: Syndromic, Immunization, and CCDA interfaces
For these interfaces, the third party you send data to controls what they can receive and send back to you. In most cases, we expect you’ll be able to use the interfaces as they are. However, please read below for details on when interface changes might be needed and the steps to take if necessary.
Syndromic Interface:
If you actively use a QIE Syndromic Interface, we can help update it to meet 2015 CEHRT criteria. Please note that you must configure your Syndromic Interface in a way that the agency you work with can receive. When your agency notifies you that they’re ready to adopt changes to meet 2015 CEHRT criteria, enter a ticket on our Customer Portal or contact Support Services at 888.436.8491 (option 2, option 2) to request an update to your interface. Please be prepared to provide your agency’s requested configuration changes.
Immunization Interface:
If you actively use a QIE Immunization Interface, please confirm whether you can query and import a response. This bi-directional capability is required to be 2015 CEHRT compliant. If you find that you don’t have the query capability, but your chosen agency supports it, enter a ticket on our Customer Portal or contact Support Services at 888.436.8491 (option 2, option 2) to request an update to your interface.
CCDA Interface:
If your QIE CCD/CDA Export-Import Interface sends health information to a Health Information Services Provider (HISP), such as MedAllies, then it likely uses a TOC CCDA. In this case, after you enable CCDA 2.1 in Centricity Practice Solution or Centricity EMR, your CCD/CDA interface will automatically start sending CCDA 2.1 files. MedAllies will forward the CCDA as is. No changes are required to the interface itself.
If your QIE CCD/CDA Export-Import Interface(s) sends a Clinical Visit Summary (CVS) CCDA, it can remain in version 1.1 since CVS CCDAs aren’t utilized by any Promoting Interoperability measures. You can configure Centricity Practice Solution or Centricity EMR to create TOC CCDAs with the 2.1 version and leave CVS CCDAs at version 1.1. Follow the steps below to update your CCDA versions:
- Navigate to our interoperability settings
- Centricity Practice Solution: Administration > System > Interoperability > CCDA Version
- Centricity EMR: Go > Setup > Settings > Interoperability > CCDA Version
- Confirm that the Clinical Visit Summary CCDA version is set to 1.1
- For all other CCDA types listed, change the version to 2.1 once you’ve completed the implementation steps for CCDA 2.1
New Qvera CCDA Reconcile Form:
Qvera has updated their QIE Reconciliation Form to allow QIE-imported CCDAs to meet the 2019 Support Electronic Referral Loops by Receiving and Incorporating Health Information measure. If you import and reconcile CCDAs from a QIE Interface, you need to implement the new form. Please enter a ticket on our Customer Portal or contact Support Services at 888.436.8491 (option 2, option 2) to request our services to implement the new form.
Note that for any changes requested, we’ll need to create a scope of work with associated costs.
