Hi All,
I know there have been a few threads related to 9.8.10 but we just updated (last night) in CEMR and found a few things I wanted to share.
1. Flags opened for longer than 1 year are suppressed from the EMR. They still exist in the database (I have been able to report off of them). GE support, if hounded, can give you instructions on how to fix this but it does require a server reboot. We are planning to follow their steps over the weekend as we don't want another downtime so soon. I will post if this works as expected. GE also mentioned they are trying to code something a little more user friendly, the current workflow requires editing a file. I promised the support person who gave us this info that we would not share it and I want to stick to that promise. But be aware it happens and GE can give you a potential solution.
2. Interaction Checking. We have this enabled for Drug to Allergy interactions only. After the upgrade we found that the history of past overrides were wiped from the system. The impact of this is that, over the last 9 years or so, physicians had been overriding various interactions. With this history wiped out physicians were getting 8-10 interactions at times. We have 75 practices, some 600 concurrent users, all sharing these charts. Our podiatrists (as an example) did not want to override interactions on medications (and allergies) other physicians were responsible for.
We had to turn this feature off and reach out to GE on a potential solution. I do not think GE has a solution for us so we'll probably have to turn this back on in a few weeks (once the upgrade dust settles and before ICD-10) and just explain the why.
I'm sure we'll find others but for now those are the two big ones.
Thanks
Mike
In addition, the ADD_FORM_COMPONENT function within our VFE forms is adding the component to the end of the encounter. Thankfully, we have dynamic navigation in all of our forms that use this function. It is a minimal disruption to workflow.
Update for day 2 - I apologize in advance to our CPS brethren as I've just finish reading that post but, for CEMR, things are looking very good. Not trying to jinx myself (at least I'm not on call this weekend) but, other then the above mentioned issues, this SP has been smooth and dare I say a real improvement.
Quick aside to start - we went from 9.8.6 (with the CQR MU patch, mini 7 I call it) to 9.8.10 GA in Live over Wednesday night
1. Practices/providers have indicated they feel the system is a little faster and more stable then before. GE always claims performance improvement but I think they may have delivered.
2. We did not have time to physically train everyone on the new problem search but instead sent out some documentation. Our helpdesk has received no calls to complain/ask about it. We are using the internal search (and were going to anyway) even before they delayed the release of the web version to SP11. Huge win
As for the problem search we used to rely heavily on custom lists. For this go live on of our analysts came in super early and switched everyone's preference to Smart List - no one complained. In fact the only feedback we've received has been positive.
Those are the main two points I wanted to get out there. I'm normally a debbie downer with GE on this forum so I wanted to let everyone know they seem to have gotten 9.8.10 right (for CEMR at least). Smooth upgrade technically, (tangible) improved performance and actual improvements to workflow (Pt. Ed and Problem Search).
Well done GE. I suggest others take this patch.
*Please note, this post does not address the strange mapping issues with the GE ICD-9 to ICD-10 GEM that others have raised, only the technical update. That is of course still concerning but I'm trying to be positive going into the last (real) weekend of the summer!
Thanks
Mike
Thanks Mike.
mjharunk, Any word from GE on the ADD_FORM_COMPONENT issue?
Submitted an SR regarding the ADD_FORM_COMPONENT, but no word yet. Apparently, this has been an issue since SP7 so I don't have a lot of confidence. All of the workarounds seem to impede performance (remove and add all other forms in encounter).
A few of our form sets have navigation fields on the side of every page that allows users to quickly jump around between the forms - that seem to be the best work around/solution we've found. In all honesty it is really just a glorified version of the existing list GE standardly shows on the left hand side of the screen but, since it is in the form set itself, users seem to prefer it.
Any specific SRs that are already out there regarding the add_form_component function that is broken? We are post SP10 upgrade, and this is the biggest issue for us. I'd rather not recreate the wheel with GE right now. Our forms are loading very oddly and we can't seem to get a handle on it (the pane on the left will show the forms in the correct order, but it's going to the note at the end). We use some CCC forms.
Jen, I'm trying to get an answer. My var told me that GE said is a manifestation of SPR 55244 but I'm not sure I 100% agree since the text of that SPR is "When using the ADD_FORM_COMP data symbol with the AFTER_CURRENT argument, the form is not inserted AFTER the current form."
For now we stopped using ADD_FORM_COMP and added a different office visit template for each version of where we used it.
Hi All,
Sorry I'm just getting back to this, so much activity on the CHUG it pushed it down passed where I normally scroll.
Here is the SPR number we have RE the ADD_FORM_COMP
1-728916462 - we are CEMR
Thanks
Mike
Hey Guys,
I'm hearing GE is going to try and get the fix for ADD_FORM_COMP into SP12. Still if you have the issue call in and get attached to the SPR.
Sorry all - the SPR in my last post was about Flags not the form component, I'm confusing myself! The form component ticket is:
1-730954422
Thanks
Mike
