I am curious to know what others are doing with the Medication Custom List... I have built the list for our sites but when the Knowledge Base is updated monthly it is changing our list and adding a duplicate. However, if you remove the duplicated list it is also removing those meds from the list that I built.
If anyone can offer any opinion/suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
PS: This is what I received from GE:
It has been determined that the issue reported on this case is caused by a defect in the application and scheduled to be resolved in a future product revision. A notification will be sent via listserv when new revisions are available. Each revision includes a list of corrected defects in addition to new features and functionality. Please review the release notes to determine the revision corrects the issue reported. Once that determination has been made, media and upgrade assistance can be requested by following the instructions at this link: Centricity Practice Solutions.
I just asked our head nurse about this as we just went through a Medispan update. According to her, our custom lists are not impacted when we do the update so perhaps you are on a previous version of CPS. Regardless, you might consider exporting your Medication custom list as a clinical kit so that you can import it back in after the update. Probably not a bad practice to do for all custom lists come to think of it. Especially since it's hard to know what might be impacted after an update.
Make a copy of the custom lists and update the copies. The original three lists are always updated to add the original meds in a knowledge base update. We just maintain separate lists and delete the three that get added back each month.
The Administered Medication custom list as well as the Immunization custom lists are not available to export, at least in CPS 12.0.12. We have actually had our 'custom lists' disappear twice now and we have had to rebuild them from scratch --- all over again and we have 5 custom lists. After the first time it happened, we have a test system that also had them built, so we thought we could export them from test and them import them back into live, but those lists are not in the export window.
Very frustrating!!
We had this problem when we first went to CPS 12. I recall our administrator was able to fix it - so I asked him if he could remember how. Here's what he said: "I am pretty sure I did this through SQL Management Studio searching through tables and found the list in a custom lists table. I am not sure if I grabbed and inserted rows from test, or had to delete extra rows from live." I will post another update if he sends more details. We still have to erase the "factory med" entries with each KBU, but that's much easier than recreating the custom lists.
