Since upgrading from CPS 10 to 12.0.7 we have been plagued by a recurrent bug with the following error message:
It pops up during some, but not all office visit encounters, and seems to be triggered by typing free text in a form such as the HPI-CCC form. We have verified repeatedly that there is only a single user in the chart when it occurs. Once it pops up, it corrupts the encounter causing random other problems like forms not working correctly, MEL garbage being inserted into encounter text view, Patient Banner disappearing from Chart view, etc. We have been troubleshooting this with our VAR for the past 2 months, and they have opened a ticket with GE for the past month, but no solution has been found so far.
Has anyone else seen this??? Any suggestions?
Oh yes, the CPS12 another user bug... we too are plagued with this. GE is less than helpful and just added us to the list of facilities having issues with this. If it were really another using the chart, it would identify who it was working on it but when it doesn't there is nothing you can do but wait it out.
One thing I have been less than pleased with is the number of bugs in CPS12. We moved from CEMR 9.5 and toward then end it have a few 'bugs' but over all was pretty stable. CPS 12 on the other hand has been horrible! The other thing that is very irritating is the number of issues I have logged only to be told 'yeah, that issue was found in 9.x or 10.x but it hasn't been fixed yet'...and here we are on 12 and it hasn't been fixed?? What are they waiting on? It seems like this software is very fragile, they try to fix something and end of breaking something else. Very frustrating!
I was hoping there was a known fix to this issue, but unfortunately sounds like that's not the case.
Scott, any tips or tricks that you've discovered to work around or minimize the impact of this bug on user workflow?
The only thing I can suggest is to wait. Come back to it towards the end of the day, perhaps even the following day. It usually takes a couple hours for it to time out. Its almost like when a user is locked on it all you can do is wait for their session to expire. Unfortunately, unlike GE's RIS, administration can't go into an active user list and force close a session.
I am in agreement with the bugs, CPS 10 had far fewer bugs, though we were on the final reiteration of the software by the time I came on. Though our director is getting tired of this as well and started looking at alternatives to Centricity.
I agree with lkeith and Scott. In fact, this specific bug is one of those that has been around since CPS 9. For us, it went away with an upgrade, then came back with the next, then went away again with another. The latest version of CPS 10 was really bad with this problem, but otherwise I found it to be the most stable version yet. Now we are on CPS 11 and the problem is completely gone. Glad to know it's back in 12. I was starting to miss it. (I always just told me users that it was their turn for the day. The next day it would move to someone else.)
Maybe it is just a coincidence but sometimes when a user gets that message I can go into SQL - jobs and run Clean AppSessions, Cleanup Logins, Cleanup Slot locks, etc and it clears the lock and they are able to resume what they were doing.
