Hello All,
Has anyone run into the following issue (I figured I would ask before we call GE):
We have a couple of users where the only banner that will load is the standard banner that comes with the system. If we try any of the customized banners it does not load. This does not impact most other users. We tried having the impact users log in and out and try a different term server without any change. Has anyone else had a similar issue?
Thanks,
Brad
Yes. I was told by our VAR that this is a known issue by GE, but it has yet to be fixed. We can get a customized banner to load, but on occasion it will just disappear making it difficult to identify what patient you are dealing with. This was such an issue in our practice that we had to resort everyone back to the default banner.
I have found that once it disappears it is gone for good until you reload the chart module. To do so, on the left hand side of the screen where it lists "chart desktop" "Chart" "Chart reports" etc. Right click "Chart" press close, and then press it again to reopen it. It usually solves the problem. We have this issue as well but that quick simple fix has gotten us through.
Thank you both for the information. I had a feeling that this was a known bug, just something that we hadn't run into yet.
A couple of things -
When I first starting playing with banners, I added a 4th line (does not display, but could contain info like a name for the banner) so that I could use a scroll bar and read the banner in use.
If you keep seeing the same banner, you may need to double-check the user preferences.
To get a new banner, not just log out, but often completely close the Citrix or desktop client; and then re-try.
Sometimes my banners display garbage - result of network errors/time-outs, and thus load a different patient and then back to the original to get your programming to run again and build the two lines of banner text.
Anyway, perhaps one of those ideas will shed some light for you.

We find that charts that have pop-ups linked to the registration sometimes cause this behavior, especially on days when network traffic is slowing things down. The popup opens, but behind something else, so the user doesn't actually see it - so they don't know about it to click through it to allow the banner to complete loading. We cleaned out old registration popups, and had clinics start using Alerts more (when we first started with the EMR, those weren't available). This has reduced the banner problems quite a bit.
