Basaglar medication for diabetes is not available in CPS. The medication was approved by the FDA in Jaunary 2016. Is there a reason why this medication is not available in CPS? Is there a way for me to manually add this medication outside of a KB update?
We have the same issue, unless it is included in the Dec KB update?
I have reviewed the KB release notes and see nothing there. In fact, I don't see any new medications coming in that month, which is strange.
We are not a direct client to GE and I can not request this medication to be added. Anyone out there with the same issue? Has anyone requested this medication to be added by GE?
You can request this through the GE engage site.
Requesting a Medication
If there is an active medication that is not on the most current reference list and has been available for at least two update cycles a request can be made by calling Support at 888-436-8491, option 2, option 3 or by submitting a ticket through eService.
The following information is needed for each request. Please have this information ready when talking to Support or submitting an eService request:
- Medication Name
- Medication Strength
- NDC Number
- Name of drug manufacturer
The only other way would be to add it as an uncoded med. Uncoded meds cannot be ePrescribed. They can be faxed or printed only.
I submitted a request the early part of December. I just checked with GE and I am happy to report that Basaglar will be added to the December KB Update.
Yay Christine!
I have a question/suggestion for GE. As we move to the cloud, why aren't the Medispan/KB updates one of the first things slated to go to the cloud? It would be nice to have a more "real time" and up to date medication list. This would be a great use of cloud technology.

I did confirm that the medication is now avialable in the December KB update. Thank you for your help.
