Has anyone else run into an issue removing flags greater than one year old from a patient's chart since upgrading to SP10? We're finding it impossible. We found out that there had been some changes to the default desktop view to only show flags less than a year old, but I can't imagine they intended to make it impossible to remove flags older than one year from the patient's chart where they are still viewable.
I've had a case open since Sepember 14 and it was send to leve 2 on September 21 and I still have nothing further than that. I am about 99% sure this is a defect with SP10, but it's pretty obnoxious to our staff so I'm wondering if anyone else has any more info than me or if you've worked around it in some clever way.
Thanks,
-Matt
I removed that "feature" when we installed service pack 10. If you want to do the same you have to get with Support. Their instructions they sent to me said I couldn't share the information. No idea why.
We had the same issue on this and found that the person that originally entered the flag was still able to remove it.
We have found that you can't delete it from the Chart Summary since it grays out the red delete X. If you click the View Alert/Flag button in the banner ribbon you should be able to delete it in the View Box.

Dave - we got the same instructions, like they were giving us nuclear launch codes. Strange they would ask for that yet seemingly give it to everyone anyway?
Interesting...they didn't give me any warnings about not sharing that information with anyone when we ran into that "feature"...
We've sort of found a workaround...
The deal is that if you're on the chart summary (or just the alerts/flags view), you can't remove any flag with a start date greater than 1 year old. You also can't double click those particular flags and bring up the list of all the flags for that patient. However, if you happen to have another flag (less than one year old), you can double click that one to bring up the list, and then from THAT screen, you CAN remove the older ones.
Presumably, we could edit the mldefs5.txt file and revert this "feature" but I still don't think this is working as they intended it to and they need to give it some attention. I can't imagine the tiny performance improvement this would give is worth the hassle it causes. I also happened to notice that if you attempt to "Organize" the view and only show Today's flags, that doesn't seem to work either.
Here is the snippet from the newly modified SP10 release notes that talks about the issue. They say the change was to "hide deleted flags." I don't believe deleted flags ever did show unless you specifically said to show them within "Organize." Our experience is that the flags still show and we've lost the ability to do certain things with the ones older than a year. It's not doing what they thought it would. Another thing I noticed is this document shows them filtering on Deleted_Date, but the actual mldefs5.txt file is filtering on "Due." Perhaps that's the problem.
