Hello All,
I'm trying to find out what is the best practice in terms of EHR system idle time.
I think HIPPA compliance doesn't have any requirement in meeting the idle time, but it could be a reference in finding out. Any feedback is appreciated.

We have ours set Windows to 15 min and Centricity to 30 min. This seems to be a good working solution for our providers.
20 minutes for Windows and CPS. This seems to be about the standard time for any 3rd party PACS, Citrix providers, etc.
Our Centricity idle timeout is set to 30 minutes, our Windows timeout for locking the desktop/laptop is 10 minutes, except for our Dental users/providers. For our Dental Staff, we have extended it to either 30 minutes or 45 minutes for the Windows timeout to give them a little more time since they have extended periods of inactivity when they have their hands in the patients' mouths.
