I have a doctor who has multiple Problem Custom Lists he would like combined into a single Problem Custom List (with duplicates removed). I have been able to export the individual lists but am not sure as to how to combine them, save them and re-import them as one single list. Does anyone have any insight into how I can accomplish this?
I was curious so I exported a couple of problem lists. Each PCL file is one of the problem lists. The .LST file is a list of all files associated with the clinical kit.
The .CKT file identifies the kit type (PCL=problem custom list I'm guessing). I'm not sure on the second field. The 3rd field is the problem list name as displayed in CPS. The 4th field is the .PCL filename containing the details of the problem list.
If you open up the .PCL files in a text editor, there are essentially 3 tables defined. The first line contains 2 numbers. The first number is the number of rows (x), and the second number is the number of columns in those rows (y). The following x lines define the first table. After the first table, the same concept identifies 2 more tables for that problem list.
In one of my large PCL files, the second table has data. I'm not sure of the significance of it. It has lines like "[][v15.1][AAA repair - open]". The other problem list I exported shows a 0 0 for tables 2 and 3.
It looks to me as if you experiment with creating a new clinical kit based on these concepts, you can probably merge the text into a single problem list and import it.

Thank you. I was able to accomplish this. Too much to write up just now, but if anyone needs assistance with this in the future, please feel free to comment. If I ever have free time (yeah, right! :-)) I may come back and write the full process out...
FYI - beware of the 1000 entry limit. I'm happy to tell you more about it, but we lost letters P-Z on our most-used custom medication list when we had to re-import it. We are now careful to keep our list to 1000 or less entries in case we have to re-import in the future.
