We updated our KB over the weekend and had several medications discontinued as you mentioned above. This of course doesn't remove from the patient chart nor the custom list. We first of all noticed that the medication did not list as uncoded in the patients med list (maybe this is a known bug?) Then when refilling the medication in the HTML form, there was no indication that the medication couldn't be filled. Our only indication was that the controlled substance box was missing. If we go to the older change medication button, it immediately pops the uncoded medication error to let the user know that the mediation is uncoded. This has caused a significant workflow issue with our nurses and providers since so many meds were removed with this update.
Any one else experiencing this and if so, how did you get the word out to the providers? I am assuming I will need to run reports on the patients that have these drugs in their medication lists but there was a huge Medication update in the May KB so it is pretty painful.
Amy,
Experiencing the very same problem. I was planning on either sending a flag out to our providers or have it added to the agenda for the next Board meeting. It is going to take me a very long time to do 95 custom medication lists unless I have provider who wants me to remove all their medications and start fresh.
oh dear! We did log a case with our VAR and they escalated to GE but doesn't solve the problem for now, perhaps it will be in a fix in the future....
