Whenever our physicians prescribe a new medication, they check the "Print Patient Handout" check box that is in both: (1) New Medications window; (2) Prescriptions encounter form. This prints the Wolters Kluwer Health medication information handout for that medication. With one exception, this works with no issues; the one exception is a MD who has his handouts print with a giant font size (20+). This issue follows him from computer to computer, so we know it has something to do with his CPS user profile.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? GE Support has no idea what the issue might be.
Citrix/Terminal Server or Fat client? Same printer each time or large font appears on different printers? Anything else print large fonts or just these items? Truven handouts for example?
Hi David,
- Fat Client
- Happens regardless of printer, computer, or Windows login
- Only these particular handouts are affected (Walters Kluwer Health)
- The only constant: one specific user is logged into CPS; no other users experience the issue
Happening on different printer rules out printer driver issue. If this happens when another user is logged into Windows on the computer but this user logs into CPS, rules out a Windows profile issue. Like you said before, has to be something inside CPS. I'd made him a temp ID and have him try it on a test patient and if it is normal, there is definitely a database table with a setting related to printing that has something messed up. GE ought to be able to identify him as a user and remove the rows related to him.
Hi David,
RE: GE ought to be able to identify him as a user and remove the rows related to him.
That was my conclusion as well. The support tech I'm working with doesn't want to go down this path, so I'm going to escalate the ticket.
By accident, we found out how to fix the issue. I am very glad we did not follow the advice of the GE Support Team.
Solution:
1. Have the user login to CPS
2. Start a chart update and add a New Medication
3. After clicking Reference List, search for a Medication.
4. Select the Medication and click “Print Handout”.
5. The Print screen pop-up and presents several options, one of which is Font Size. Change from 18 point to 12 point font.
