I am curious does anyone change their Responsible provider in registration everytime a patient is registered ? I think our clinic is utilizing this function incorrectly but am being told its a billing thing

We do becasue we have 3 separate deparments and if you don't then when orders are written in CPOE they are not credited to the correct rovider unless you change them in the order entry template. Tha is too much work for my providers.

We do also. It seems to me that it creates more problems but it is pretty much for the same reason. Our letter templates, headings, orders etc. will not populate the right info. I guess they think it is easy to have front office staff change resp. provider than train people how to toggle things back and forth.

I believe the responsible provider to any document can be assigned when choosing the encounter. It doesn't have to be in registration every time. You simply choose whoever is providing care that day.
