I imported a VFE form into GE quite some time ago. I could not find that VFE form so I decided to export it from GE.
One problem though, as I edited in VFE that exported form I noticed that the Translation Chart Note is blank (and I know for sure I had a translation there).
Even more curious, I made couple changes re-added the translation, re-imported the form into GE, now I have the old and new translation showing.
I cannot find where the old translation is actually stored. pls help.
I have had a few notes that completely lost their text translation on export. if you don't find it in the locations above, it may just be a fluke with exporting that form.
The translation is not lost, it is simply reconstructed from the XLT file and inserted in the location that you specify in the initial prompt.
The import from clinical kit functionality is an 'emergency' recovery option that should RARELY be used unless you are very proficient in MEL.
Why is it this way? Simple: VFE stores items in its source code so that it can be redrawn on screen in the manner you are familiar with. When VFE creates a clinical kit for import to the EMR, the editor specific code is removed since the EMR cannot accept it, meaning when you reconstruct from an exported clinical kit, there are no 'instructions' on where some items belong, so the best VFE can do is keep it grouped together, which Dr. Thompson has done quite nicely in spite of numerous challenges to do so.
My Advice: If you are reconstructing from a clinical kit, ensure you test every scenario possible with a MEL Trace and verify that the rebuild is error free before using the reconstituted form in production. Never assume that a reconstituted form is 'OK' until you have proven it in a MEL trace...
