I recently took over responsibility for unretrieved charges at one of the facilities my company bills for. One annoying feature I'm dealing with is that every time these charges are retrieved a long "Imported Charges from External System" note is added to the visit descriptions. This clutters the tickets and pushes whichever more important notes were there out of view.
My company has been having us remove these notes from the descriptions after importing but when we're doing that for hundreds of tickets at a time, we end up wasting hours of productivity on cleaning up the descriptions.
Is there a setting that can be changed in the system in order to stop the program from adding that note to the descriptions? Those types of system responses usually go into the Notes tab within the ticket, if they could be sent there instead that would be ideal.
Tim,
If you don't find a solution, our company can create a process (either by clicking a button to remove all or a job) to remove this description from all tickets after charge import. Please let me know if interested. My email is [email protected].
Thanks
Eric
We've set up a number of CPS inbound charge HL7 DFT interfaces for billing.
If you're referring to the visit window on the charges tab, under the diagnosis view list and procedures view list description fields, we get real descriptions. These descriptions are values in the HL7 messages. These descriptions are in FT1.25.2 I believe.
If that's where the value “Imported Charges from External System” is coming from, we would typically use Mirth Connect to remove or alter that field.
We run almost all HL7 interfaces through Mirth Connect for a number of reasons, of which message manipulation is one. Mirth Connect has a fairly steep learning curve, but is well worth the time IMHO.
