We are moving to a new server soon and would like to upgrade to CPS 12.3. Does anyone know the Server Requirements or is it documented anywhere?
jboss: Win 2012 r2 here with 48 GB ram, single server, 8 cores.
sql: Win 2012 r2, sql 2012 with 96 GB ram , 16 cores. clustered/ 3 nodes
Thank you, my project team will require a spec sheet from GE do you know if there is one floating around on CHUG?
I was kind of hoping that it would run on 2016, had to downgrade the last time from 2012R2 to 2012. At least they got it to where 2012R2 works now.
you can get it from Ge, from the patch download page.
the documentation for the patch should include the hardware calculator spreadsheet, together with the pdf with all kind of recommendations.
I would not risk going to 2016 SQL as GE is not known for being at Technology Vanguard.
I don't remember reading much about 2016 SQL. I know that SQL 2014 is supported as i remember reading about it.
I am looking for something along the lines of actual CPU recommendations. We used to get "Xeon E5-26XX minimum but Xeon E5-46XX recommended". I understand that they want to be vague for a CYA situation {maybe} but I don't want to buy something only to find that they require something better at a later date. The hardware Excel thing just recommends virtual CPUs but you don't go to a vendor and buy vCPUs. I feel like my server CPUs are kind of slow for 12.3.x due to their age but won't know that for sure until after I upgrade. I don't feel it is necessary to buy bleeding edge processors either, which is what some vendors will do to play it safe.

There is a hardware compatibility list that gives you all the specs. It can be downloaded from the GE website under Community/Upgrade Resources/Technical Planning.

Sorry i was assuming that you were running a virtual environment. the Expect i gave were of a virtual environment
When using Spread server the GE Spreadsheet recommend pretty old CPUs.
xeon e5640 and Xeon E5520
My virtual Environment is running the Following CPUS.
1 cluster with 5 host and a combination of Dual ES-2640 and Dual ES-2670 and 512GB RAM on each host.
CPS run smooth on this environment.
I have attached the 12.3 hardware calculator Spreadsheet.
How many users connect and how bug is your DB?
I am virtual, running VMWare 6.X, on E5-2660 hardware. I know they are pretty old but hopefully will last long enough.
On that note, does anyone know as they move to the cloud if they are only talking about the Jboss and SQL parts or are they planning on moving the DM, DTS, ESM, Portal(s), Biscom too? For them to tell CHUG attendees to "Not buy new hardware" as a blanket statement is a bit short sighted as most clinics have many "GE servers" when you consider the rest of the 3rd party servers. How long until they get clouded or will Kryptiq/Surescripts/ENLI be doing their own thing? As an admin, I really need to know these answers but I can't even get a straight answer about Windows 10 versions and browser plans beyond IE11.

I would way until the EMR/CPS part is fully acquire by Veritas. Project Northstar is/was a GE solutions as they were never strong on Coding and when downhill when they move their coding to India, they wanted to keep everything seamlessly to cut on support. We know GE support wasn't the best.
Let wait for Veritas fully acquisition to see how will project northstar continues.
As everything else i believe they will move everything to the cloud including developing for the interfaces which you will likely have to pay them which is a bad thing for guys like me, who do all his interfaces either on Qvera or Mirth which are very easy to manipulate and only use DTS to receive the messages.
Does anyone have a copy of the 12.3 release notes?
