So we are upgrading to 9.8 November 21st and have decided to push on with Med Admin/Immunization Management HTML forms to ensure MU 2 data is captured and counted correctly, we currently use custom forms for both. Immunization Management doesn't seem to be a big issue setup wise and workflow wise. Our major concerns are the Med Admin form, the setup isn't going as smooth as we would like (the inability to free type in some fields, hooking a med from the reference list, NDC's, hooking an order, etc...) and it will be a slightly big workflow change for clinical. We are at the point where we are debating throwing in the towel on this form and move efforts to creating a custom med admin form. Just hope to get some opinions from others out there using a the HTML med admin form for MU 2 and using a custom med admin form for MU 2.
Any insight would be great.
We will continue to use our custom Med Admin Form during MU2 reporting stage instead of GE's HTML form. We have been told that the MU2 reporting will not be impacted (you don't need to use the HTML form). What we are doing though is making sure that providers always add the medication being administered to the med list. This assures that there is a drug/drug drug/allergy check happening, which is part of MU2 compliance & from what we can tell, the only reason GE created a new HTML form for this.
Are you utilizing MEL_Add_MedAdministration, MEL_Update_MedAdministration, MEL_Get_MedAdministration, etc.. in your custom form?
We are not.
I seem to have a hard time getting a firm answer from GE on what those are exactly used for. It's always ohhh they're the new data symbols to capture the med given. We'll where is that med going once capture, why not have it tied to an obs to go to the flow sheet.
