Thoughts and feedback appriciated!
We (a cardiology practice) have been using Phreesia pads for perhaps a year to year and a half. I'm on the IT side, so our measure of success is the lack of complaints. In the beginning there were a few issues mostly related to customization of content. Otherwise they're pretty low maintenance from an IT perspective.
The patients can update demo and insurance data, and sign the various forms we require. We receive the updated demo data via HL7 ADT messages, and PDF copies of the signed documents via HL7 MDM messages.
We also export demo and schedule messages via the MIK to keep Phreesia's database updated. This is a fairly busy interface. Yesterday we generated 5000 messages.
The front desk staff log into a "dashboard" website to do some type of processing. I believe they confirm and approved edits the patient has made on demographic data and such. When the update is approved, the demo data and signed PDF documents are sent to us and promptly added to the chart.
If you have any specific questions, let me know.
Thank you for your feedback. This is really helpful. Overall, do you think the staff that has to use it daily is happy with it? Do they need to provide much "training or support" for the patients to use it?
The staff is ok with it, we had a little trouble at first but things got better. We did request extra equipment, CC readers and such. They still don't have a 'chip and pin' solution and I would be slightly hesitant to be putting new CC readers in my office if they haven't gotten a fix yet. Their pre-configured WAP's are unsecure in our mind as they use the same login/password/SSID/PSK for every client. The first thing we did was change all of that. Definitely request extra styluses.
We did have issues getting the interviews changed, it seems they are very slow to accomplish this.
They have had 1 or 2 minor portal outages but nothing major. They did do a upgrade that required a newer browser with no advance notice. Because of some of the hospitals having older web interfaces we can't always run the newest version of IE. I believe we had to have our front desk use Chrome/Firefox to access the portal.
We have had a issue on occasion where their system got stuck in a loop and put the same 7 PDF's in the patient chart 20-25k times (yes, you read that right 25,000). Since the 7 PDF's had the same name it didn't take up any extra space but we had to do some database work to get those 25,000 documents filed in error. As such I wrote a simple sql query to show me the 10 patients with the most amount of documents just in case another 25k show up again. Phreesia was not overly helpful in their support of this issue.
Honestly I thought we would have to dedicate a person full time to teaching the patients how to use the pads as our patients are older, but really they seem to have little to no issues with it and the practice has noticed a increase in patient payments since it tells them right away what is owed.
I would recommend Phreesia, I just wish their support was faster/more helpful.
Dave,
Are you all still happy with Phreesia? We are taking a look at implementing it.
Thanks,
Mike
