Our organization is trying to collect information about the specifics of EPCS with 9.10.
GE hasn't been able to tell us how identity management will be controlled, what kind of costs will be associated with hardware purchases (Imprivata?), what ancillary applications will have to be upgraded, what server/JBOSS requirements will be impacted, etc.
Are there any users that are participating in the UPT testing in NY State? If so, what's the verdict?
Any and all information would be welcome.
Our VAR implemented a different solution - VirtualScript. The pricing they gave us for the GE product was ridiculous, and waiting until the last minute has left both us and our VAR in a bad position. This was a known mandate - not a surprise. We should have had the tools necessary to take care of our patients without our EMR being a hindrance. Even the implementation of VirtualScript, because it was last minute before the deadline, has not been smooth. They are still working to iron out bugs.
No matter what, you should look at all options that are available to you. Maybe there is another option that has been tried elsewhere that will be more cost effective for you. Hopefully, someone else will have worked out bugs before you have to implement it. Good luck!
Thank you for the response. It sounds like you were able to extract a lot more information from GE than us.
Could you tell me a little more about GE's proposed solution? We don't know what the identity verification system is, what kind of ancillary hardware has to be purchased, what kind of upgrades have to be made to the eSm module, what kind of cost we would incur, etc...
Any specifics would be a big help as we plan our strategy. Wish we could receive this info directly from GE, but...
