Currently on 10.1.3.312, was debating going to 11.1, or just waiting for CPS 12. sort of a pick your poison scenario.
Are the problems with 11.1 still persisting?
We have been debating the same thing, mostly discussing whether it would be worth the extra bugs to learn the changes for ICD-10 before dealing with MU2 whenever 12 comes out (lets be honest, it will probably get pushed into Q2) Chris or anyone else, thoughts on that part of CPS 11, how is the learning curve?
I don't think there was much of a learning curve at all for our staff. It's nice that when adding a new problem it shows you both the ICD-9 and ICD-10 code so you can start to familiarize yourself with the new codes. I know our providers just enter problems from the codes they have memorized so this helps them to start using the new codes. They especially love the smart list too.
One of our biggest problems is the Billing module. it crashes frequently when approving charges.
Reset cps processes -> rinse repeat and then it'll work (some of the time). Now I hear 11.1 causes problems in charts, which I want to avoid at all costs.
Just wondering what the status of your CPS11 issues are? We are supposed to be upgrading in January but now I'm a little worried.

Why not skip 11 and go to 12? It's due to be released in, I believe, February.
We decided to do just that - skip 11 and upgrade to 12 (from EMR 9.5).

None of that sounds encouraging since we will Test in CPS 11 and then migrate from 9.5 to CPS 12 in the first quarter of 2014.
Not sure wether to say Thanks, Beth

Update: Found out that GE was incorrect. We can not go from 9.5 to CPS 12 but rather they told us we had to go to EMR 9.8 even after we started building the SQL platform.

The powers that be are pushing it. For those of you live and having issues, did any of the issues you are having become apparent while you were testing or did they start happening once you went live? Also, is GE actively trying to fix the issues?

I heard it was going live at the end of March

As of 12/12 GE is still saying it will be available between Feb 15 - March 31st, I would be surprised to see a general release before April though

Going straight to a new version is just asking for trouble. Best bet is to wait for at least a service pack to be released to fix some of the day one issues you are going to see in version 12.
As for issues in and with 11: we found a few issues while testing, but once we went live and had 70 people using it we started finding a lot more issues. And yes GE is working on fixing some of the major issues. They just released Service Pack 1 for CPS 11 which does address some major issues as well as include some DB table fixes that are supposed to increase performance.

NOT! We found out that GE was incorrect. We can not go from 9.5 to CPS 12 but rather they told us we had to go to EMR 9.8 even after we started building the SQL platform. GE said that they can not converting the Oracle database to the SQL database structure at this time.

We are experiencing similar issues as described above with our recently upgraded CPS 11.1.1.138.
Upgraded in early December from a stable EMR 9.5 Oracle to CPS 11.0 SQL and after one week of consistent crashing and freezing, we applied the SP1 to bring CPS to version 11.1.1.138 on GE's request. This was supposed resolved the crashing issues and we are still dealing with locked documents, system crashes, and general overall major user issues.
All servers were built to GE Specs plus some.
Someone please tell me that CPS 12 will resolve these crashing and locking issues or there's certainly going to be a 90 provider revolt! (wonder if there's a 90 day "money back guarantee" like RONCO offers?)
We are currently testing CPS11.1.138 with a go live date at the end of January. Getting some more information about your experience would be really helpful.
Would you describe the types of issues you are seeing now that you have the latest service pack - e.g. are there any patterns to the crashes, and/or overall user issues.
Our testing of CPS11.1.138 has found these problems so for:
- Diagnosis look-up through the reference list is not working properly in multiple cases. For example, entering "heart" in the problem look-up displays a chapter for "neopplasms", but the chapter on neoplasms displays a block titled "Maternal causes of perinatal morbidity and mortality"
- The navigation of the left-side form list is inconsistent when using the mouse to select forms to open from the list. For example, when a user opens a form (non-custom), then clicks on the '+' button above it to open the 'New Medication' window, and then closes this window, the next form the user selects from the form list may or may not open the correct form (e.g. click on form #3 and form #1 opens; double click on form #3 and it will finally open)
Any information you could share would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Over the past few weeks, we've been saving the error messages to attempt to trend these issues and errors. I will say that GE has been fantastic in responding to our support requests and are generally able to resolve the issues quickly. This is however, of little comfort to the providers who are the ones sitting with patients experiencing the issues directly. I've asked our "Practice Management" trainer to identify some of the more common issues seen.
We initially went "live" with the "PM" portion of the application and operated our old EMR while the office staff made the transition to the PM piece and workflows were established. We did not experience many issues with just the PM side of the application operating. Most of these issues have been noticed since the EMR Migration.
Here is a synopsis of issues seen:
We’ve actually had feedback from
GE on multiple tickets that we have opened due to end user complaints that are
“known defects”. Here is a list of the what I know of at the moment (or
some of it)
The form opening from the left menu mentioned below is a common complaint – per GE this is a known issue
When selecting a flag from the desktop the previously highlighted flag stays selected as well (this sometimes causes both to be deleted accidentally). Can’t remember if
this is a known issue or not.
Problem search issues (the descriptions are not end user friendly, causing incorrect dx’s to be selected)
Forms not showing MEL - can reproduce
Spacebar not working in the text component of the phone note encounter. (this is with the platform team for review after the tech reminded me that I was being recorded)
Preferences from multiple places do not hold, display or otherwise word as intended. (some are known defects – some are still out to GE)
Poisoned visits
The crashes don’t appear to have
been occurring prior to the EMR migration, or at least not that I’ve heard of
(and I have asked several users) so the stand alone PM was fine which makes we
wonder if it is the chart module itself or the user profiles that were migrated
over that have anything to do with it.
Thanks for your feedback
