Has anyone experienced problems with the information in the Patient Banner disappearing? It seems to happen randomly with different users. Very frustrating to staff, seems the only way to fix is to close Chart and reopen. Thoughts?
We have the same issue from time to time. We have been told by GE that it is a known issue.
If you click the banner before the chart fully loads it seems to cause this problem. Some of our users are "click happy" and we have had to get them to stop clicking on/near the banner until the chart fully loads, but they have definitely learned that the only solution is closing the Chart module.

We are also having this issue. We opened a ticket with GE support and they also told us it is a "known issue" with custom banners. In our case we are using a non-"Standard Banner" that was provided to us by GE which includes the Protocols notification. I'm assuming anything besides the "Standard Banner" is considered "Custom". Our situation is the same, in that it is only certain users reporting the issue, and they do not always experience the issue.
The SPR that was provided to us is SPR#53877. We are told there is currently no ETA for a fix at this time.
We have the same problem and yes it is a known problem. I haven't heard an ETA either. A work around to closing and reopening is setting your banner to the default and then setting it back to the custom banner. It's a few extra clicks but it does save a few seconds.
This is not just an issue with custom banners. We have experienced it with the standard banner as well. The 2 workflows where experience it are:
1. Click in Banner, press Enter.
2. Print a document. While the document is printing, do a patient search using the Enter button to search. The print notification bubble fights with CPS for focus, and when CPS grabs focus, it does not put it in the search window. In other words, the banner has focus, so pressing Enter is the same as #1.
The SPR# for this defect is CISDB00059260. I believe that it is CPS only, not present in the EMR (Oracle) product.
We found that it is related to a keystroke while searching for a patient. If you select the 'Find Patient' drop down, then close it, and hit the enter key the banner is gone. If you close the chart componant and reopen it, it reloads the chart banner with your banner no matter which one you have selected. Good Luck!
