As we're still playing with CPS 12 on a test server environment and really don't consider it a true reflection of our production environment - for those on SP7 in a production environment - do you consider SP 7 more stable? Or more stable but still with a lot of outstanding issues?
We've already postponed our upgrade from CPS 11 to 12 once already as there were too many outstanding issues with SP4 at the time - but wondering if SP 7 has created a stable enough environment to not delay a second time and proceed.
Thanks.
well, considering we came from SP6 to SP7, it is considerably more stable. It has seemed to fix a few of the billing issues we have had. Charts are much more stable, though not perfect.
It's probably too early to get or give a true answer, but SP7 appears to be a good release* thus far in our environment. Environment being the keyword... Centricity behaves so differently between clients that you should only take words of praise or condemnation at face value. Poll 10 clients and you'll likely find 10 different setups, even with those 10 clients following GE's documentation recommendations.
*Insert here my (now) normal disclaimer of: Backup everything and plan to reinstall JBoss again after everything is said and done (even if you did it during the SP install).
So far 12.7 has been ok for us. We went from 12.6 to 12.7 and that upgrade went just fine. Had a few pluggin issues that forced some re installs of the pluggins but more or less it was quick and painless.
However it appears there is a bug that may have been around for a while but this is the first I've seen it. Chart notes once signed off dont write to the datebase in the correct order. This leaves you with a document full of code and plain text stripped of any formatting. Our VAR (support) was able to go into SQL in these cases and re-order this and basically put humpty dumpty back together and it fixes the issue and the note appears correct after it is repaired in the Database. It is troubling that i've already seen this twice in a week on 12.7 and never seen it before on 10.3 and 12.6/
I have a case open with GE for a similar issue. Chart documents created since the SP7 upgrade have been showing plain text code without formatting, but we haven't been able to narrow down a pattern. This doesn't happen with every document, but several a day. Oddly enough, some appear to correct after a while. We had no issues prior to SP7.
