Has anyone installed this on CPS? I'm starting up an install for my test environment. Wanted to see if anyone had any issues? any improvements?
Not I... not for another 2 weeks. Waiting for others to jump off that cliff first. 🙂
I'm in a holding pattern as well until after CHUG on production. So has anyone upgraded their production yet? I have not see a post of comments.
Cecil
We are also waiting. Have heard of others that have that have had a very unsuccessful update.
Just finished the test server and it went well. Of course that doesn't mean a thing when it comes to the production server.
I finally have it running in our test environment. It apparently DID work for me on our test server the day after it was released. I was certainly patient but it did not appear to work after multiple installs so I opened a case with GE and worked with support today. He did make a change with respect to the DNS servers in server setup and it now works. We both doubted that would have anything to do with the problem because we have the same configuration in production, and they are all known good DNS servers. I would be having all kinds of other problems if there was a DNS issue unless it it a problem with the A record for the test server on that DNS server.
So we can now test, although I have heard some that some customers are having issues. They must not be CHUG-ers though

We are testing 12.0.7, but are waiting to see what CHUG brings back. I've also been watching the forums here. I wouldn't even consider installing this update because it is so new, but there are big advantages to problem searches for our providers, seeing as how we are working on ICD-10. I too am in a wait and see pattern.

I find GE's email yesterday to be very suspicious for SP8, anyone else? 🙂

Dear Centricity™ Customer:
I continue to get very positive feedback on the benefits and high quality of Service Pack 8 since being released to General Availability on April 17. My decision to release Service Pack 8 to General Availability was made only after working very closely with our early adopters and receiving their acceptance. I encourage you to download Service Pack 8 at your earliest convenience and begin your own testing and deployment.
Sam,
I'm suspicious of everything GE says and does. I'm sure GE is still doing damage control after the inital disaster we all know as CPS 12. I'm treating this SP no different than any other, by subjecting it to a few test upgrades and having staff run tests on normal operations in development. Calling vendors to ensure compatibility is also part of this. For us, it takes around 1.5 to 2 months depending on the type of release. We take a full quarter to evaluate a major update, e.g. 10 to 12.
That's why we are still on 12.0.4. The subsequent upgrades offered nothing as we identified as real fixes to the core application. Word in the forums is that 5 and 6 didn't fix much of anything apart from PQRS submissions. We are vetting 12.0.7 now and hopefully we will be able to skip 7 and go to 8. 8 is going to help our docs with accepting ICD-10 with the fixes to the smart list and the number of lines returned on problem searches. For PQRS, we were lucky to have one of our staff in house that was able to circumvent GE CQR and still get us submitted.
I agree Sam. That email sent up a big red flag. We are testing on our test data base and are having soem issues but it is going to take soem more work before I am ready to move to production.
I have SP8 installing right now, will keep everyone posted. So far so good. My other concern was the whole "Positive SP8" email included the news that SP9 is already underway. Well what the heck is wrong with 8 that 9 needs to come out already?
jdibiasio - It may be because there were things in 12.1 that really needed to get out but because they tabled that, these smaller service packs are taking care of the "really need" pieces???
"Dear Centricity™ Customer: I continue to get very positive feedback on the benefits and high quality of Service Pack 8"
This is very peculiar wording. I am wondering who "I" is in this message. I did not receive this nor have I ever received anything like this which also makes me suspicious.

Hi Mike, The letter was written as coming from Peter Kinhan. Below is the full email. I received this from being subscribed to the [email protected] distribution list. I subscribe to all their distribution lists as I've found they do not tend to send the same communication to all platform groups. Even when the subject matter applies to all platforms. 🙂

Test environment has been humming for a few weeks on SP8. Going full production this weekend from 12.0.7.
Found out that service packs are going to become more regular. SP9 being the first example, it doesn't even look like it does much. I guess it's GE's way of staying "active" with the product by consistently releasing fixes.
Would love it if the installs were less time consuming though.
