We are still on SP7 and were going to do SP9 this Friday night but were told by a support rep yesterday to wait for Update 1 due to some issues with SP9. Anyone heard about this?
We are about to update to SP9 in our clinics as well, but after reading about this release for awhile, it has us a little concerned. We're in the same boat as you right now. We're not really wanting to add more problems to our already seemingly endless problems with 7. Has GE given a concrete date on when update 1 will release?
They made it sound like it would be any day now, possibly this week from the sound of it.
On the CEMR side, we went from SP7 to SP9 this past weekend. No issues so far!.
My understanding is that 9 may not have all of the "fixes" that were in 8. SP 9 patch1 is supposed to be cumulative and therefore have all of the fixes that were in 8. We were advised to wait. On June 16th we were told it should be out in about 2-3 weeks.
SP9 Patch 1 will be inclusive of the SP8 Patch 2 and Patch 3 fixes. We were told not to proceed with SP9 since we had already installed SP8 Patch 2. SP9 Patch 1 should be available within the week based upon our GE Account Rep.
The Patch 2 and Patch 3 updates for SP8 are intended to reduce some system crashes and provide some better stability in the system. We have seen a bit better performance and less crashes running SP8 P2.
Where are these patches released? I have not seen any emails about them or anything on the Engage website about post SP8 patches? Do they show up in Server Setup?
We went from SP6 to SP9 this past weekend so we never had any of the post SP8 patches. So far we've found that the issue with doctor suffix not appearing is not fixed as they said it was (or something different than what we were expecting was fixed). Too early to tell if there is any great leap forward in terms of stability/reliability. Hopefully after a week or so we'll put some quantifiable numbers and a gut feeling together.
What's involved in the installation of the Post SP8/SP9 patches? Is it server side only like a few SQL scripts or a whole new client too? We usually upgrade about eight different CPS databases on a Friday night and the fat client rollout with SP9 was not smooth (we think because GE used an expired certificate to sign their ActiveX component so it required an Administrator to launch CPS the first time). Can't wait til they get their act together and make a standard MSI install that we can roll out with group policy or Zenworks. Not everyone is a single office with 8 computers. We have 350 or so scattered across 13 locations across the state. Remoting onto each one of them manually is not fun. I've been able to get the client install automated in the past, but this time, not so much.
Wait for SP9.1. Our understanding from calls with GE and our VAR is that it will wrap all the SPs (8 thru 9) and some additonal fixes. We are also on sp7 and was advised to wait to get all the fixes that are wrapped up in 9.1.
Well, I don't even see service pack 8 out on the website at all. The only thing under Service Packs (CPS) is 12.0.9 full build and the release notes for it.
We were scheduled to do Service pack 9 as well this weekend and were advised to wait for SP 9.1 as well because 9 just wasn't that beneficial for us. So we pushed our update awaiting the release of SP 9.1. We have a heavy thick client environment, so SP updates are huge for us. Some of the things in the release notes they said were fixed in 9 are not actually fixed, so that is why we chose to wait.
