We are schedule to upgrade our CPS 12 to SP 7 on January 16th. My understanding is this will require re-install of custom clinical content, cps clients, and all third party integration.
Please someone explain to me why GE is releasing fixes that requires re-install.
Thanks!
We've always had to reinstall the CPS client, no matter how small the revision. Reinstalling CCC is just a matter of putting back the files to the client folder after it has been upgraded, we don't use it, but you can deploy with the jobs.txt option.
We are upgrading on Friday and installing version 9 forms and understand from some who have already done so there have been problems. Not looking foward to it. We currently cant get out CPT codes to even load.
This verbiage about re-installing clinical content, updating CPS clients and third-party integration is standard information in all of the Service Pack release notes that I have been dealing with for the past year (BTW: we have only been on CPS for 14 months).
Its not a bad idea to make a copy of your customized clinical content, just in case.
Yes, once you load the service pack on the AppServer, you will need to reload the client on each workstation. If you have a fat client install, this can be a tedious process. If you are running on Citrix, the effort is slightly less cumbersome. The reason is that the service pack is updating a number of application files which then need to be moved/updated to the client.
The 3rd-Party Integration -- this is just to make sure that the service pack did not break any previously existing integration.
In my recent experience with installing SP7 in a TEST environment, I only had to re-install the CPS client software to get back moving again. Although, we are only into 2nd week of testing, but have not found clinical content or operational issues that would require re-installing clinical content or 3rd party integrations.
If you running the HTML immunization forms, you will need to make a backup copy of immunization/medication administration files stored on the JBOSS server. They get wiped out and render the forms unreachable.
Hope this helps your concerns.
One thing I have noticed since the upgrade is there are some weird errors stating you cannot access the chart because someone is updating the confidentiality and to try again... Then crashes CPS.
We upgraded from cps 10 to CPS 12 mid Dec 2014. There were no problems with custom forms or content except immunizations lists and Custom allergy lists. We use all custom forms and other than handout reference problems we have been good. We do not use ccc forms
Unfortunately all 3rd party software required "re-connection" and many required upadates before and after CPS upgrade. Still ironing out kinks in Kryptiq ACM

Good luck with the update
We upgraded to SP7 this weekend with not issues. Does anyone know how to save your HCFA setting though? Anytime we upgrade we have to set everyone HCFA settings this is a huge pain.
Please let me know,

HCVA settings are set in the users registry at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GE\CentricityPM\11.0\CentricityPS\Reports\Offsets
For Alignments
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GE\CentricityPM\11.0\CentricityPS\Reports\Printers
For printer settings.
This is the path for CPS 11 and CPS 12.
Depending on what version you have it will vary slightly.
If everyone has the same settings you can just push the registry setting through group policy.
I have been doing that since CPS 9.0
We upgraded to 7 this past weekend and so far so good. One question I have though is where is the ccc basic update.zip file located if you used server setup to download the service pack I can't find it. Below is from sp7 readme.
If CCC Basic was previously installed
1 Unzip the CCC Basic Update zip file delivered with the release into the root level of
your hard drive (for example C:\) into the staging folder where the server has been
installed.
CCC Update folder is in the Staging directory and then another folder called Clinkits.
