Hello!
We are getting constant reports of CPS freezing/locking up when our Registration staff is taking patient pictures. Is anyone else experiencing this same issue? Ideas on how to resolve?
Thank you,
Jill
Does it crash or just freeze indefinitely?
Did you install the patch that came after?
Yes, we have installed the patch. It will freeze and for the user to reboot/restart. They are unable to get out of CPS.
We have also had issues with taking pictures with our external cameras. The computer doesn't necessarily freeze, but an error message appears indicating that the image could not be acquired. Our workaround has been to train staff how to take pictures with the application that came bundled with the USB camera and save the photo to a file. Then they have to import the file to the patient's chart. Extra steps, but this at least allows them to work. We have a strong suspicion that the reason the camera stopped working is related to the Windows OS updates that were pushed out in April and there is some kind of incompatibility (possibly a security issue) between the new updates and how the camera is attempting to communicate directly with CPS. Something to consider is rolling back windows updates on one of your problem computers to a date when things were working properly to see if that resolves the issue. Not something you will want to maintain, but at least it will confirm that the issue is related to software incompatibilities.
