We have just started having an issue where the Referring provider that is loaded on the Case that is attached to the visit, is not pulling into the visit. I am being told that this issue started in CPS 11.1.3. The visit is only pulling from the Registration field. There is a KM 38538 which we were added to but there is only 2 customers attached to the KM. Here is the full description of this KM - for our issue, the second half would apply. If you are suffering either of these issues, please contact support to have them attach you to this KM. Apparently they don't seem to care that a feature they have no longer works unless there are a lot of clients complaining.
Issue: CPS Billing: when we pull in the orders from emr into billing, the responsible provider in the referring table is pulling in as the referring provider, instead of the provider from the responsible provider table. there is no referring provider in registration, so where in EMR is this pulling from, so the client can correct it?
Resolution:
--Use Responsible Provider as Referring Provider Checkbox
Under CPS/Admin/Chrg Mgmt/Procedures, select procedure/click Fee Schedule tab, select Fee Schedule, see checkbox.
Click this check box to cause the application to automatically fill in the referring provider with the visit Responsible Provider, for any visit containing this procedure code when that Fee Schedule is associated to the provider.
Note. At present it is a Medicare specific requirement to identify when filing a claim, the physician ordering a diagnostic procedure.
f the patient already has a Referring Provider named in field under Registration module, then if this box is checked on Procedure, it will prompt you (see attached screenshot) asking if you want to replace that referring provider who is already added on Visit Info tab to be replaced. If you say, Yes, it updates it to the Responsible Provider. If no referring provider is named in field under Registration module (blank), when adding procedure it will add the Responsible Provider as the Referring provider.

If patient has open case:
SPR CISDB00064312: Case associated to the Visit with a different Referring Provider than Registration, does not pull into Visit when charges are retrieved.
ISSUE: If you have a Case associated to a visit with a different Referring Provider than what is within the Patients Registration, it is not pulling the Referring Provider from the Case into the visit when charges are retrieved, it pulls the Referring Provider listed within that Patients Registration.
State=Backlog

CPS will populate the Supervising Provider field in the ticket/visit automatically based on the information in the Authorized By field of the Orders module. It was designed to pull that data over during the retrieve charges process. It is not proper logic and has been noted by engineering but it is working as currently designed.
Solution: Remove the Supervising Provider value from Visit Info tab, if not needed. Otherwise, enter the correct Supervising Doctor in the Authorized By field of the Order Details before signing the orders. Authorized by field on Order Details tab = Supervising Provider on the Visit info tab.
I'd hate to see the output of this query:
select * from dev.cps.things_to_do where state='Backlog';

Me either! It's almost as if it has to do with the PM side - oh, it can wait. I know government regulations are driving a lot but it shouldn't cause them to ignore their practice management side either.
