I have only been a System Admin for GE, with my company, for a little over a year so I am still learning all the nuances of Centricity Practice Solution. With that being said, I was told that there are certain characters that Centricity Practice Solution will not accept as a password such as: #,*, etc...Is this still true?
We use Active Directory for authentication so our users use their Windows login for GE.
Thanks,
Kenyon
We are also using active directory. AFAIK, we haven't run into a problem with special characters.
I do seem to vaguely recall several years ago hearing something about a problem with special characters if one was using local database authentication rather than AD. My guess is it had to do with poor input validation with characters that are significant to SQL like quotes and semicolons.
That could be true. Hopefully this is no longer an issue (I think I've only experienced this issue once in the past year).
I actually reached out to GE about this a while back. Below is their response: I've also included an older installation manual that explains all this. Start on page 60.system_planning_requirements

Description: Can you please email me any password requirements CPS uses? We manage our users via active directory and we have our own requirements for it. We just want to make sure they're both similar. Any documentation on this you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Database Version: 12.0.7.1559
Resolution: If authenticating through AD then the application will use AD requirements.
This is what I needed! Thanks
We still have problems if users use the ^ or & characters in their PW. They both will give you errors on the Growth Charts.
