Hello,
I was wondering if anyone is currently using something other then Citrix to present athenaPractice to their thin-client users? We are currently using Citrix Daas (formally Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops) to present our athenaPractice application to our remote users, but we are finding support with Citrix has become lackluster as of late, to the point that we are exploring what else might be available.
As it stands now, Citrix is the only product that has been validated by athenaHealth to work with athenaPractice, but we are curious about other products (VMWare Horizon, Cameyo, Venn, etc) and if anyone else is currently using them to host athenaPractice and how well it is working for them?
Thank you,
Dan Bryant

I don't think there are many tech people around here anymore, sadly.
It would be nice if we had more control over our own environments and not have to worry about "what is supported". If vendor software is properly written to Microsoft Windows API specifications then it should not matter if you are presenting Windows via a terminal server/Citrix or running a thick/fat client infrastructure or anything in-between.
With that being said, I have heard good things about the next version of Athena Practice. No more browser integration and possibly it will be written without that Window Blinds thing which causes issues if users change Windows font size. Hopefully this is not just rumor. That may help you with selecting a Citrix alternative.
I have heard good things about VMWare Horizon but that was before Broadcom bought VMWare. Lots of people are looking for VMWare alternatives for their hypervisor needs and Microsoft is ending the free version of Hyper-V which makes some people wonder if the standard or datacenter versions aren't also on the chopping block. My own experience with Broadcom support has been far worse than lackluster.
