We have one physician who uses Citrix on his Mac in the office. After a few hours, he sometimes finds that the EMR (9.8.3) has gotten slow, as in 15-30 second response time between clicks. Meanwhile, the EMR is responding normally for others, and the other Citrix app he's using is also normal.
If I end his Citrix session and he reconnects, he's OK again. The main problem is that he sometimes is still seeing patients after most people (including IT) have left for the day, so he has to wait longer than usual for assistance. One solution would be for him to use one of the many Windows fat clients around him, but that solution would not be popular. Are there any special Citrix/Mac/EMR settings at which I should be looking?
I know this isn't very helpful so I apologize but we have a lot of issues with Citrix and Macs. We have another group that handles Citrix so I don't know exactly what they have to do to get it working but I do know they always sound deflated when we tell them it is a Citrix/Mac issue...
We have just learned that he was clicking on PACS links in the chart and minimizing them rather than closing them. Once he had seen several patients and had 7 or 8 MRI studies open, the EMR was slow (not a big surprise). Once he closed the images, the EMR was back to normal.
