My understanding is that when charges are retrieved from EMR into billing, the CPT- is stripped and crosses with just the numbers. I know it used to be in the past that the descriptions for the codes had to match in the billing setup but I think this is no longer that case. I would appreciate some clarification. Thank you!

I was always told that it had to match code to code.

Yes that is what I am saying but it used to be that the descriptions had to match and now I think it's just the five-digit number.
