Our interface team is trying to populate the contact by field in the patient registration page. We are trying to map a couple codes ( H for home, C for cell, etc) The pid40contactby.ixp file exists in the link logic folder. The codes show in the HL7 pid segments, and do not error in link logic, but we cannot determine why they won't populate in Logician / registration. Is anyone familiar with this process ( ixp files), and might have any info as to what we might be doing wrong ?
Thank you !!

I'm not sure anyone at GE knows how IXP files work. I have looked into reverse engineering a little and asked GE about them in the past. I haven't come up with anything useful.
I'm guessing Logician is the Centricity EMR (Oracle db) product rather than CPS?
I've worked with both the MIK and Linklogic/DTS quite a bit. I'll help if I can. Which interface engine are you using?
In CPS administration, you have to configure the particular interface to use the IXP file. Assuming CEMR is similar, has that been done? So far I haven't had to use IXP files for anything. I know there are several that do different things. I haven't needed one yet.
The only thing I can find and I'm sure you have done is associate the ipx file with the interface you created.
I don't know if this could be the problem but when we were on CEMR we had a separate PM system and we were having the same trouble. When we looked at the hl7 message from our PM system, the phone numbers were all being passed in the same segment with the ^ separating the entries. We were never able to get those to flow into the cell phone field. We started just loading the cell phone # in the home phone if they had a cell. We have since moved to the combined CPS product and that is no longer a problem.
