Hello, is there anyone out there using the SureScripts patient portal e-forms for patients to complete a ROS, FH, SH, PMH, and PSH? Are you using Data Entered by Patient (DEP) to capture this information? Do you have the data drop into current forms used by the providers? Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. We are EMR 9.8 SP 12.
Thanks,
Kimberly
DEP (data entered by patient) should always be stored in separate obsterms. A workflow that permits the import of the DEP values for review/acceptance should be created in conjunction.
Rationale: DEP is not staff entered data. Even though it is often subjective, inserting it into the current update looks like the staff gathered and entered the data in the database. That is 'OK' if all the data the patient entered is accepted, however it is not easily 'removed' if the user does not want to accept a value. In addition, forensically speaking, you want a clear delineation between the data the patient entered vs. the data the staff enters. Sharing the same obsterm does not provide for this nor does it protect staff entered/corrected data the next time the patient updates the obsterm.
You might want to check with SureScripts to see if they have encounter forms to go with their e-forms to accomplish this. I know that Medfusion has them (I wrote them).
Good luck.
