Hello, We are EMR 9.8. I would like to know how other clinics set their drug interaction preferences? It's under Go>Setup> Settings>Chart>Drug Interaction. Currently we are set at not required, therefore, we are flagged for the smallest possible interaction. We would like to set our settings higher but would like to know if there is best practice or we would like to know what other clinics set their drug preferences. I asked GE if they had best practices and of course they do not. Any information you can give will be deeply appreciated. Drug Interaction Preferences
Thanks,
Kimberly
Funny you should ask. I noticed that about our settings as well; must have been a 9.8 thing. I took a screen shot last year for meaningful use so I went back and changed our settings to what it had been before. Our clinic went dead in the water, no one could get passed the manditory interaction checking that it forced. Some users didn't have rights to even check or acknowledge the interaction or contraindication. I called GE and they said the not required means you aren't forcing users to acnowledge the interaction/contraindications. They also told me leaving at not required doesn't affect any reporting.
We are playing with turning off the drug problem, drug sex, drug age interaction/contraindication. I think it will really help with the contraindication fatigue.
Unfortunately, we disabled them completely as part of the 9.8 upgrade.
While the clinical results may not have been technically incorrect (grapefruit anyone!), the volume of overrides required was overwhelming, even when set at the lower levels.
Thank you all for your input. So what you all are recommending is to not set these parameters because the overrides are a hassle?
Thanks,
Kimberly
How to disable drug interactions?
Thanks, Jude
I am trying to develop a text component that will query the ML.INTERACTIONOVERRIDE table so if anything new hits the table a custom popup displays. My issue is that I dont know how to pull table values into a text component 🙂 anyone have a quicktext or text component that query's a table I can glean from?
I'd be interested in the final text component you develop (we are on CPS 12.0.9 and are definitely wishing the interactions weren't so finicky). Thanks, Harriett
