Has anyone upgraded to 9.8 and not experienced recurring client crashes and/or client latency. If so, did you take any particular action to correct the issue. Those are the two main issues keeping us from upgrading. Thanks. [email protected]
From the Conference Calls last week, it appeared that GE was releasing 9.9 mid September, and 9.84 (replacing current 9.83) shortly. Both, were to address that issue.
We had a look at the content of 9.8 SP 4 and it does not address these issues. There is rumor of a SP 5 for 9.8, but no idea what it has in it. So far it looks like the mid September release of 9.9 is the best shot at correcting these issues. My organization fears that the Proposed Rule will not pass and a September upgrade will not get us where we need to be to attest for MU 2.
We've frankly not had significant crashes or JBOSS issues on 9.8 (jinx!).
Not that they don't occur, but it really has not been too different from 9.5. Averaging one (or fewer) crashlog files per Citrix server, per day for maximum 130-140 users across 6-7 servers. It may be that our JBOSS server is pretty good (28GB RAM) and we're not using much HTML content now, aside from CCD-As. We don't restart JBOSS with any kind of regularity (jinx#2).
Occasional reports of slowness occur, but nothing much different from 9.5 (if it is Tuesday, blame Microsoft!).
We've got a second EMR coming up soon which worries me more, because it has many more users and more immunizations.
Our big reasons for not upgrading that box yet were the Drug Overrides and Problem searches.
We are all fat client with 450 - 490 concurrent users, but even in our test system with less than 5 users logged on we are getting crashes and slowness. GE is looking at a Null value problem I think in the Documents table and is recommending we significantly increase the capability of our jboss server of add a second jboss server. Thans.
We are on 9.8 (EAP no less) and have had numerous issues with crashes and latency. We currently have had patch 3 installed with some improvement, but not a lot. The crashes and freezing still happens fairly frequently. And to add to the difficulty, we are hosted by GE, probably their biggest hosted client. We actually just had the DDID patch applied, but it is still not working. I do not know when we are due to have 9.9 installed or if it will help. It has been a very frustrating four months since we went live with 9.8.
