It has been determined that Centricity EMR cannot accommodate EPCS for medications that have been scheduled at the state level. It is my understanding that we will have to file exemption requests with each licensing board to notify them of this technical limitation. We will need to include some kind of statement to reflect the limitation for state-scheduled medications. An example of this in Oklahoma is Pseudoephedrine; Providers would need to use their serialized prescription pads in order to prescribe this.
Has anyone else already dealt with this? If so, can you share your statement verbiage that you used for your exemptions, any policies or procedures you created, etc.?
I have put in a case with athenahealth to provide a statement on this but would like to know how others have dealt with this.
Thank you.
