Hello!
Is there anyone else out there who has a state that is now mandating electronic prescribing of controlled substances, but who is not yet on CPS 12.2+ to allow this feature? We will be upgrading directly from 12.0.13 to 12.3 by the end of this year and have filed waivers for each provider that we are not technologically capable at this time for EPCS. We are receiving a large influx of calls from pharmacies on each controlled substance prescription that we then have to explain our providers have a waiver for.
What are other practices doing to reduce/eliminate these calls? Right now we are having clinical staff add a note to pharmacy on the prescription or just printing the provider's waiver and handing it to the patient with the script. I tried to open the crystal report for our state's prescriptions to add a notation about the waiver on just controlled substance prescriptions, but not all formulas 'compile properly' upon loading. When I saved and tested it, I receive an error: "The page size was not large enough to format the contents of an object in the report."
Thanks!
Although not in quite the same situation as we have been on 12.2 for a while, we still were not able to do EPCS due to how our system is configured (until this past friday).
We also received the pharmacy calls constantly though they all had been told over and over what our situation was. In the end, the thing that helped the most was to write a general letter about our situation to all pharmacies and fax that along with all our provider's approved waivers to each pharmacy that we deal with.
Like I said, it helped but not eliminated the calls.
