I was wondering if any one else has had a pharmacist tell you that they no longer want schedule III-IV drugs via paper and want them all faxed? One of my clinics is telling me that a pharmacist in their area told them that the whole industry is going this way.
Any thoughts?
By March 2016 at least NY will mandate eprescribing for controlled and non-controlled substances...so eventually yes. I personally dislike faxing with passion :).
Requirements vary from state to state... Some (most?) require two factor authentication - the credentials + biometric (for controlled substances I believe). CPS supports biometric fingerprint readers but they are pretty specific on the brand/model.
Pharmacies in our area have told us the exact opposite - we now have to print all prescriptions for narcotics- we are not allowed to fax or call anymore.
