We are looking for a forms developer that would contract to develop forms as needed. Currently, we have a ROS form that needed tweaked, or new created as this form is an older version.
Good Morning, I just sent you an email.
When contracting encounter form developers, always verify their VFE license status. Their use of the wrong license type may invalidate your license and will certainly get the developer's license permanently revoked. The two types of licenses that are allowed to be used to develop for others are Commercial and Consulting. All other licenses are expressly limited otherwise.
You can contact [email protected] to verify a consultants license status.

Lee,
How do you know if that occurs? I'd read about the licensing terms and have contemplated purchasing a commercial license, but it isn't in the cards at the moment. If they have a form trading sub forum on here, wouldn't that revoke everyone's license? Just curious.

Trading forms for free (permissible under the EULA) is different from selling forms (commercial only) or developing/revising forms for a fee (consulting).
The intent here is to empower the end user so they are less reliant on consulting contracts to make edits, especially simple ones, should they later be required.
It should be noted that typically:
- Shared forms should include all the files needed to edit the form.
- A consultant should provide the dlg and lib files to the client upon completion of work.
In both instances, if the 'recipient' has a license for VFE, it enables them to 'take over' development, if desired.
Conversely, commercial development typically would not provide source code (it would be a violation of the VFE EULA to reverse engineer 'sold content'), therefore VFE is not required on the client end.
Other conditions exists for a consulting license:
- The consultant must develop under their own license.
- Their client must also be actively licensed for VFE (clinical at minimum) unless permission is obtained from Logical Innovations in advance.
Some believe that if they develop under a client's license for a fee but they are not an employee of the organization, they are compliant with the EULA. This is not true. Most accurately stated - the individual named in the license is the only individual authorized to use VFE. If the individual named in the license leaves the organization, the license should be transferred to a new individual in the organization and only that individual is authorized to use VFE.
