With using the HTML Immunization Template, we still have to track the OBS Terms for our reporting. We document the immunization details in the HTML form, then we open the Flowsheet and enter the data linked to that Immunization.
How are others documenting? Is there a way to enter the data for the Immunization and link it to the OBS terms w/out having to go to the flowsheet each time?
We are an Internal Medicine Practice and this workflow is not user friendly since we give a TON on Immunizations each day, especially flu season!
Hi Ashley,
I created a program that allows you to map your immunizations from the HTML form to previously used OBS Terms and syncs the data together. You can find it here:
https://www.medcode365.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=57&product_id=86
This will allow you to use the HTML form and still see all the OBS terms in your flowsheet and reports as before without doing any manual tracking.
We are peds only and also do a ton of vaccines each day. We no longer use obs terms for vaccines. Instead, we focused on extracting HL7 files to submit to our state immunization registry (NY), which has an abundance of reporting features available to us at no cost. Not sure if this is an option for you?
Our HIE does not have the capability yet.... We are part of an ACO and they also pull our data from the OBS Terms.
Thanks for the feedback!
We have custom VFE forms that write to the IMMUNIZATION table and OBS at the same time. The forms are beasts though (sluggish).
If it's any help, we are a pediatric practice and use the Immunization Management HTML form for documenting Immunizations.
We have a Qvera interface ( https://www.qvera.com/qvera-interface-engine/) which pulls the information that was entered into that form and sends it in HL7 format to our state immunization registry. That state registry follows the CDC HL7 guidelines ( https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/programs/iis/technical-guidance/hl7.html) fairly closely, with only a few state specific changes.
We also use Qvera to send immunization administration information to an HIE.
The information in the Immunization table that the HTML form writes to seems to be sufficient for the registry and HIE, so we don't need to do extra documentation in OBS terms.
We do have a custom VFE form where we document some additional information about immunizations to make the documentation workflow for our MA's and providers easier.
If any further information I can provide to help, please do not hesitate contacting me.
Metrics are NOT correct in CQR dashboard for FLU Vax and PNA Vax.
HELP! Upon review of our CQR dashboard, I've performed a drill down into patient charts for the ones who are UNMET for FLU and PNA immunizations. I've found that the nurses are not entering vaccines received at other facilities correctly...........they are entering into a flowsheet with obsterm instead of using the HTML form.
So, yesterday I entered 95 historical FLU vaccines using the HTML form that should meet the measure. After recalculating, 23 moved to the met category 72 remained unmet............
Anybody else having trouble with the Immunization measures in CQR? Any ideas?
