When a needed additional form component(s) is added to an encounter note it is often placed at the end creating a disordered mess. How can I rearrange the order in which components appear in a note?
Using CPS12
Administration > Charts > Chart Documents > Document Template
Then select the template of the Document type you want to modify, then arrange the MLI forms or text components in the order you want them in and click ok.
Thanks, unfortunately, this isn't a template. These are actual notes that end up with the Assessment and Plan followed by Medical Histories, Meds, and Review of Systems. I ended up having to dictate a separate pre-op note because of this.
Is there no way to rearrange the form components in an encounter note?
Overall I am finding the notes produced by this system are littered with timestamps and other nonsense that is not only difficult to read, but also extremely unprofessional appearing for transmission to referring providers. In comparison, what I've received from others using eClinicalWorks is a near perfect example of what a note should look like when printed/transmitted.
You will have to remove the forms the re-add them in the order needed. You will not lose any content on the forms, it just needs the right order. Or you can re-order them via the database, if you know SQL but currently GE doesn't have the ability to let you do that.
Thanks for the unfortunate answer.
Really wish our organization picked a user friendly solution. The time to document patient encounters has gone from 2-5 minutes to 20+ minutes per patient and we still end up with unusable documents.
I understand your frustrations, we have been frustrated as well. I have been working on a custom UI for CPS that fixes all their issues that they seem not to be able to fix themselves, plus other cool features, I have a sub-application that we use and other clients have purchased licenses to use, and so far has help get documents signed, but I still have a lot of work to do on it so I can be used as a true full UI compared to only being able to review and batch sign/route/remove a lot faster.
I am using EMR 9.8. I am able to REMOVE an exisiting form from the list of form and text components shown to the left of an open Encounter. Then add it back in a new position. This effectively puts the text in the chart note in a different order.
Try this...
1) Highlight the form or text component shown in the list on the left, that you want to reposition.
2) Right click on the highlighed item, and choose REMOVE.
3) Highlight the form or text component shown in the list on the left, that you want to add AFTER.
4) Click the icon to ADD a form component or text component. Select the form or text comp you want to add. It will add AFTER the item selected in step (3).
Any text you had typed into the form, will appear in the new position.
Try this with a test encounter...see if that works for you in CPS12.
I would like to know if this works for you.
