We are on EMR 9.8.11 and applied the August KB update on 9/11/2016. Since then we have found that some of the ICD-10 codes that were set to expire 10/1/2016 are already unavailable, like Elevated PSA, ICD-10 R97.2. Submitted a SR to GE yesterday and waiting to hear back, but wondering if others are seeing this too?
We ran into the same issue. I saw nothing in any of the notes that this was going to happen before 10/1. We updated on the tenth and yesterday the calls started coming in from the providers wanting to know why codes that they use all the time are gone.
We are having this same issue and have found about 8-10 codes it effects. Very frustrating for providers. How are you working around this issue?????
We are letting the providers know that as of Oct 1 they were going to need to select a different code GE just jumped the gun. We are hoping that the alternate they select is available in GM and won't affect the billing side.
I found on a Coding Website that the Elevated PSA ICD-10 code is actually being deleted 10/1/2016, so I've asked our coding auditors for ideas on new codes to send to the Urology office since they will have to use them in a couple weeks anyway.
Was it the KB update that caused the issue or the corresponding code update? I heard from my VAR the KB Update was fine but DO NOT install the code update.
Did you install the ICD/CPT codes as well as the KB update? because they use to have the CPT/ICD codes to download on the Engage website, but now they only have a patch for those who had installed them and something had broken. all others should avoid installing the CPT/ICD codes until the September KB update, when a new codeset is pushed out.
Does anyone have a crystal report that identifies the deactivated codes within problem custom lists? Our providers keep selecting the codes that were deactivated on Oct-1st because they are still in custom lists.
The knowledge base update contains the new ICD.
there is no need to load the ICD and CPT.
after applying the kb update, you need to load this ICD into your current enviroment.
Our providers are still selecting codes that were deactivated Oct 1st because they are still part of their smart lists. Did you find a way to fix the problem for you site? Or do you know how I can "update" the smart lists to not include these inactive codes?
What version of EMR are you on? We are on EMR 9.8 Service Pack 10, patch 4, and don't see this issue from what I know. thanks!
We are on 12.0.10. From what I have read, with Service pack 10 or greater, their should be a note behind the inactive codes stating "not billable after 10/01/2016".
The example the coders brought to our attention is for code Z98.89. The providers can select this code on their smart list with the description "Suture Removal". I do see farther down on their smart list that the same code is associated with the description " Hx of suture......" which does contain the message behind the description stating "not billable after 10/01/2016". See attached for screen shot of a providers smart list.
That's the verbiage I normally see for inactive codes. /most of our provider's use custom lists now, rather than the smart lists so that could be why I've heard no complaints. Try opening an SR! Probably your best bet
