On our Order Reqs, we've kept both the ICD-10 and ICD-9 codes displaying next to each other for informational purposes. Now LabCorp is pushing back on one of our sites to stop including 9s, stating they will not accept both on a req starting January 1.
Has anyone had problems with service provider in this way? Everyone else in the world can tell the difference and safely ignores the 9s when creating claims. It's not like 9s have gone away for Auto/WC.
Or has everyone just removed the 9s entirely at this point.
No we still print both. If you ask me LabCorp is too big for their own britches. They are not in the buisness of making life easier or better for their clients..... sorry did that sound bitter? If you do have an interface with them though in SP11 you can opt to send just 10. We will continue to send both as long as we can but we do have a third party interface through our own lab that can and I believe does kill the ICD-9 to them even though we send both to them.
That is a crazy request but if it is the paper req they want you can edit out the ICD-9 code from the crystal report and associate the "new" req form to just that service provider (so any other lab you send to won't be impacted).
We have a "special" lab req for one of our external labs - but not for this reason (just to remove our main labs hour of service from the heading area).
They have contacted us and asked the same. However, we are not able to comply because ICD-9 codes are still needed for all Workers Comp claims. They are just going to have to wait.
