This weekend I am going to install service pack 10. Unfortunately, we are still on CCC 8.3.8 so I will also be moving to CCC 9.1. I have gotten two different answers from GE regarding the process to update, so I am a little leery of following the steps. My question is do I need to run the service pack install, then do the CCC 9.1 install, followed by basic 1.1 and finish with basic 1.2, or can I skip basic 1.1?
Thanks!
This is totally just my thoughts and what I would do/did. I have updated my forms before the SP10 update just for the reason of if I had a problem I knew what the cause was. But it can be done either way before or after.
Myself I prefer to go through each update of the forms one at a time and create me a master set from each. I have a lot of custom work in my text files so I have to do compare and merge. I use the kdiff tool to find differences and then I resolve them. I would combine the 9.1 and Basic 1.2 then do the compare with your production 8.3.8 forms. The result of this should give you an updated production set.
Hope this helps,
Awesome. Thanks for that. I was able to compare basic 1.2 to 8.3.8 (still waiting on my sales rep to get me 9.1). We have almost no customization, besides turning on/off the specialties, I think I had one line to copy.
I've never had to do anything with CCC forms before, but I know we a few custom built forms. Do I need to export those and then re-import them, or will they be ignored during the service pack and CCC update?
The CCC forms should not affect any custom forms you have, but it will over write any custom work inside the .txt files. It is always good to ensure you have backups of any custom forms though. When you import the clinical kits, it will over write any changes you have made to the CCC custom lists.
Loading of CCC is pretty easy, once you have your forms ready. Be sure and back up your client folder from at least one computer, so you will have a copy of your original forms in case you were to have an issue.
