Hopefully this will be a welcome break from all of the 9.8/update related issues that have been on the forum over the last month or so.
As a short question: Has anyone successfully interfaced electronic ordering of labs and/or radiology orders to another vendor destination? Specifically a Meditech hospital?
Long version:
We are undertaking a project to interface orders entered in GE to our local hospital laboratory (and eventually the same with Radiology). Our hospital is a Meditech Hospital. Has anyone successfully interfaced orders from GE to a destination using another software vendor? Our biggest concern at this moment is that there are queries required in our lab that we would need answered in GE to allow for successful transmission/interfacing to the destination. In GE there is only the additional instruction free text box to gather this information. We could, in theory, break the message up (the NTE containing the free text additional instruction field) and attempt some sort of cross reference to fill out the required structured queries on the laboratorys end but that would require that no one spells answers wrong, hit too many spaces etc (unfeasible basically).
The second option is to create a form associated to orders that forces the use of observation terms which we could then hopefully map.
