Our physicians are wanting to know WHY certain medications such as : Auvi-Q, Ortho Evra, Ortho-Cept and Xenaderm Ointment have been removed with the latest KB update. Does anyone know the reason for them being removed so I can relay this to them?
If I remove them from their medication custom list, they just keep adding them back and try to send electronically even though they are un-coded.

Most likely because they are brand names and they do not make the brand name medication anymore. Google the med, check the indgrediants then search for the ingrediants in EMR. I'm sure you'll find what they need.

The KB update includes the list of medications they remove or change from Prescription to over the counter .
Its in a file med_changes_current.txt
This file states that they were deleted in the November KB. Most likely because of what ljburnham states.. They are not manufactured under the brand name any more..
