Hi All,
I heard rumor that GE is going to require users to upgrade the KB update by the 10th of the month or else they would turn off your drug interactions required for Meaningful Use.
Has anyone else heard this or just nasty rumor?
We are currently on EMR 9.8 and do a quarterly KB update, because it always resets our drug interactions on every patient and requires the providers to do them over again. If we had to do this monthly, my providers would revolt
Thanks!
We've seen the interaction expiration in 9.8 during testing. The CCD requires codesets to be accurate so they need to be refreshed.
Another concern is that the monthly updates may require exclusive access to the system (i.e. downtime). The Release Notes are a bit contradictory so you'll want to read-up on that.
Be sure to verify your Immunization Custom Lists before & after the monthly update.
Overrides are definitely a workload with 9.8.
The May incremental readme doesn't say anything about users having to be out of the system. Has anyone heard differently? The April incremental explicitly said you didn't need all users out and it used the same setup mechanism.
If you do not update monthly the Drug Interactions will not work and will indicate that the Medispan database is expired in EHR 9.8. Organizations are suppose to receive a flag to the desktop you have set in EHR to alert of the expiration and if you happen to miss updating it when it actually has expired. However, for our group thus far the flags are not being generated by the system and we have an open ticket with GE to find out why.
We have not received the flags either.
