We service a community of residents that do not always belong to our medical center as patients. We do perform blood draws as a service. We would like to be able to bill for the service, but without our providers having to sign off on the lab results, as they are not the ordering providers of the labs. I'm new to CPS and am unsure how to set this up. Any ideas?
thank you in advance
I'd have to confirm, but I believe it is the service orders go to the billing module upon completion.
I'd imagine the workflow would be along the lines of patient registration/check-in with service order creation in CPS, blood draw performed, then the phlebotomist would complete the order. That would generate the procedure charge in the billing module.
Without knowing your systems, I wouldn't know how to prevent certain lab results from being sent to CPS.

What dp said is the correct workflow. You need to set up an interface in LinkLogic for this "outside" patient result. Have MSH-3 be set as something else on the result or use an interface engine to look up a list of physicians in your practice. If that physician isn't one of your physicians, have QIE change MSH-3 to the name of the "auto-sign" interface. Use that name in LinkLogic and set the results to auto-sign and not route. This will eliminate the need for your providers to sign labs they didn't order.
Feel free to email me and I can help you set this up.
