In CPS 12.2.1, does anyone know how to unlink, or even delete an eRx request that has been connected to the wrong patient? or even a way to resend the request so that the chain link icon can come back, and the correct patient selected? I have about 3 cases of this that have been reported so far, and it is not clear on how I should proceed.
UPDATE: I have put in an SR with GE, and will update this question when I get some details.
Thank you,
Daniel Carpenter
Hi Daniel,
We just upgraded from 12.0 to 12.2.2 and are noticing that the new and pending refil requests from the Rx refill desktop area aren’t functioning quite like we expected. For example:
1. patient has 1 new refill request
2. Select the black clipboard to pull Rx in to a refill document and take me to the chart.
3. A. Signing the refill and closing the document here works fine and resolved the refill request.
3. B. However, when we then pend the Rx and hold the document for someone else to sign ie perhaps I was a medical assistant preparing a refill to be assessed by their provider we find this
4. Back on the Rx Refill module, that same patient now has 1 in new, and 1 in pending.
5. It doesn’t prevent us from then selecting the black clipboard again and pulling the refill in to yet another new document. Yet, that new document contains no refill information. The refill is still contained in the previously openned and routed document.
We didn’t notice this in the 12.2.1 version. Are you seeing this same issue?
thanks for any insight ou have!
mike
This does not occur on our Rx Renewal tab. if I start a new Rx Refill with the black clipboard icon, and then put it on hold, it still only shows the 1 pending Rx Renewal.
My guess is the issue you are seeing in 12.2.2 is caused by the change they made to Rx Refill notes. in 12.2.1, opening a new Rx Refill Request note locked the chart until it was signed off. The numbers would not update until this happened. In 12.2.2, they have a fix where starting a new Refill Request document does NOT lock the chart up. This could cause it to say "1 pending" (the note you started and have not signed) and "1 new" (the original request that has not been dealt with yet.)
Because we do not allow MA's to Queue up any Rx refills, we are avoiding this issue entirely. When a provider is ready to work on refills, they are the ones who click the black clipboard. It also avoids having the wrong provider on a prescription for the most part, besides absent provider refills.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for the heads up on 12.2.2, as we are working to upgrade to that ASAP.
I just got off the phone with our vendor. This is the correct behavior for the Rx Renewals tab and Prescription form. One thing I didn't notice, when you click the black clipboard for the first time, it opens a new Prescriptions form with the specific medication pulled in to the right panel. If you hold this document, then click the black clipboard again, it will open up a fresh Prescriptions form, with no medication pulled in. A provider will have to manually edit the Pharmacy, then select a medication to manually pull in.
