Hi Everyone,
We are looking at ways to optimize how our Medical Records department works. When patients ask for records or other doctors offices ask for records we are still printing out all of the information requested and either faxing or mailing it. I have them set up to do electronic faxing for most of the documents if it's going out that way... If it has to be mailed or given to the patient though we are still printing. Any suggestions? Looking toward 2016 we want to move away from such a paper trail.
Thanks,
Cody
Hi Cody, Virtual OfficeWare Healthcare Solutions has a product to do just that. It is called MultiDoc and allows you to send multiple documents to multiple recipients all within a patient chart. The integration of Centricity and MultiDoc eliminates steps in the faxing process, makes faxing quick and easy and keeps you HIPAA compliant! Here is some additional information -MultiDoc .
Thanks for the information! We use Biscom for all outgoing faxes already but it doesn't have much functionality. Mostly just for orders and referrals.
we are going to do the same, i am going to build a custom application to allow you to select which records you want to export, it will then combine all records into one pdf and allow you to protect it with a password. In additon, it will give you the option to create a note in the system stating the historical data was exported and why, and have it attached to the chart so you can easily see what was exported.
I don't know all the details but we use a 3rd party company to do this. They review the records request to make sure all is in order and do the release via paper or cd. If its just a few pages the clinic will just print it off for a patient but large requests go to the 3rd party company.
I'm just concerned using a third party or a bolt on service because of cost. We are a 15 provider family practice.
Good point as normally outsource means $$$ but my understanding is neutral or close to it for us but I'll have to ask how much they charge.
Hello Cody,
There are several healthcare products that can help you transmit medical records in a cost effective and secure way.
Best,
