A few weeks ago we had a provider complain of new meds, that she added during a visit, vanished from the note before she signed it (a few times she saw them disappear). Then we noticed we were getting some calls from pharmacies that never rec'd E-Rx, went to look at the visit and the meds weren't there... and not on the med list either. More providers have started complaining of the same problem. We contacted GE and found out that they know about this issue. They said a 'hand full' of offices are having this issue and they hope to get a diagnostic patch out soon. I find this very frightening. We have had to ask all of our providers to look at their note one last time before signing it, to be sure their meds are still there.
Anyone else had this problem and how are you dealing with it?
mboulerice, I think we may be having a similar issue. We are on CPS 10.1.3 (service pack 3). What version are you on?
These are the symptoms we are having:
- Medications disappear from the Prescriptions form
- Medications are no longer displayed in the Text Translation of the chart note
- Medications are no longer displayed in the Med Update window when clicking “Change/Update Meds” button from a form
We are on EMR 9.5 SP3. It sounds like the same exact problem except nothing brings it back for us. If the provider happens to notice it disappeared they have to re-enter the meds. According to GE there is a diagnostic patch that has been put out for CPS 9.5. GE told us there were a few offices having this problem. I think there are probably many offices but the providers just haven't noticed the meds are falling off the update.
We experienced the same thing in EMR 9.5. We installed the diagnostic patch from GE the second week of January and it seems to have resolved the issue on meds.

So there is a diagnostic patch for EMR 9.5??? The last I was told was that there is a fix in SP4 but they couldn't tell me when that would be released!
GE did provide us with a patch. We were pretty much testing the patch with them for EMR 9.5. The same issue was in CPS. When we installed the patch it did break my interfacing. GE was gonig to look into why that happened before they rolled out the patch in a SP. We are now running EMR 9.5.3 DP2.
GE told us just this week that the patch should be out for general use by mid February at the latest.
Funny, we were told that they are no longer fixing any issues in 9.5 and that they would be fixed in the newer versions...... Guess it all depends on who you talk to!
The patch is available from GE now. In the beta test the dropped meds problem was no longer there.
Do you have a SR or SPR # related to this original support issue and/or related software bug? We are on CPS v.10.0.2.218 and discovered a similar issue back in October, where medication changes were not showing up in the med list, or in future med refills. GE provided a Med Fix detector and fix scripts that found and fixed 96 incorrect meds. They suggested this might need to be run periodically, so when reading about this patch I re-ran the detector and found another 45 since the October fix script was run. I ran the fix after hours to fix these. Now I'm wondering if the patch is related to this issue.
I don't have the SR #. I do know that our PC guys were told by GE to download the fix from the GE website and that is what they did. This is the email we rec'd from the support person at GE.
"FYI, the patch is live on our website if you want to download it.
I found out the letters were mailed via certified first class mail on Tuesday night from Boston. "
EMR 9.5.3 Patch 1 is on the support website.
Originally I had submitted this as a separate post, but just found this string.
So the patch has corrected the issue where all rx are going to med list (proven by a an inquiry our vendor is running), but we are still seeing prescription text translation disappear from the note as well as new problems noted below.
-----
After we installed this patch we are experiencing other issues within the EMR. In particular we have a handout that uses MEDS_AFTER('delimited'). In the past this has always returned only the current/active medications.
After this patch was installed we have had a handful of the printed handouts that list the entire medication list; active and inactive medications. This is concerning for us as we give this handout to patients with a heading of "Current Medications".
We are also experiencing some visits where the text translation from the ge prescriptions form does not translate in the note.
We are assuming that most sites that have version 9.5.3 have installed this patch. If so, is anyone else having these issues? or similar issues?
